There is a saying in Kabul that “all is normal, until it is not…” Despite the security situation, we have to arrange our lives to resemble as much normality as possible, otherwise we will all go crazy. The project I work on is blessed in the sense that we have great individuals who recognizes this need, and strive to keep things as normal as possible.
Over the past weeks and months we celebrated Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year as “normal” as we could, and it turned out to be great and very special events. Events that are even more special, are birthday celebrations.
Tonight we celebrated Anant’s birthday. His beautiful wife Coco prepared all his favorite Indian dishes, and our “family” sat down for a real festive dinner.
I dedicate today’s Photo of the Day to a great colleague and a great friend. Anant, may this new year be blessed with all the good things you wish for! Thanks for a great party, and thanks to Coco for some great Indian cuisine!
